GOD'S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 16                                          JULY 29, 2001

OUR WALK WITH GOD,
     WORD OF THE DAY:"WORTHY"

Scripture references:Ephesians 4:1, Colossians 1:10, I Thessalonians 2:12 Amplified Bible:

"I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life)
worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called- with behavior that is a
credit to the summons to God's service…"

[We pray ] "That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the
Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please him in all things, bearing fruit in
every good work and steadily growing and increasing in (and by) the knowledge of God-
with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance and recognition."

"[We used to exhort you] To live lives [walk] worthy of God, Who calls you into His
own kingdom and the glorious blessedness…"

In our study about walking with God, there have been references to a topic sometimes twice, but never
three times, except for walking worthy of the call of God. This gets my attention. All three uses of
the word, "worthy" are the same Greek word.

Bullinger's Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek New Testament defines "worthy,"as,
" 2. …(adverb of No.1) suitably, in a becoming manner; in a manner of equal value with the thing referred to."
[Number 1 is defined as "worth, worthy; of equal value or like worth; then, worthy of."]

We are to walk in a manner that is of equal value to our calling.

Repeat after me: I AM WORTHY! _____I AM WORTHY! ____I AM WORTHY!

Because God bought us with a price, we are priceless. We are masterpieces! We were made worthy!
Lift up your head! Do not be down cast or down trodden! You are worthy of the call of God.
Now, let us act like it.

Ever watch a movie star? They are confident, they are proud, they know what they are worth.
Worthy people have confidence, and boldness. They make no apology for whom they are. They just
are and they act like the stars that they are! Likewise, you are God's star! You are worthy of
your position in the body of Christ! Now walk like you KNOW it.

There is a record in the Old Testament about a son of Jonathan. He was the grandson of King Saul. This young man, when a child, was crippled in a fall and he had a "dead dog" image of
himself. He did not believe he was worthy of the King David's presence or presents.

King David sought out this man. He wanted to show him mercy and goodness. He wanted to take
him from the pastureless land where he was living, and bring him to the king's table, where all
his needs would be met.

Can you imagine being a grandson of a KING with a worthless self-image, settling for a second rate life?
Ouch! How miserable!

Frequently, Christian believers are crippled, spiritually, because they feel unworthy. When
we feel unworthy, we tend to act unworthy. When we act unworthy, we do things that are
worthless, things that do not please God and will not produce fruit. God's exhortation to us is
to walk worthy, to be pleasing to Him and to produce fruit, which glorifies His name.

He made us worthy! O what a loving God we serve!

God sought us out. He called us into His kingdom, by his dear Son. He made us worthy.
He wants us to prosper and be in health. He wants to meet all our need. He wants us to dine
with Him everyday for the rest of our lives, at the banquet of His great table in His kingdom.

Do we have a dead dog image, and limp around? Or do we accept His invitation, and walk worthy
of His call, with our head held high, with confidence in Christ, and eat from the King of king's
table?

You ARE worthy! Walk worthy in the call of God. Amen.

PS. Sometimes one may feel like an imposter when one acts worthy but does not yet feel worthy.
Hang in there. Rest assured of who you are in Christ. Your feelings will change as you grow into it.
