FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 2
     WORD OF THE DAY: "WISDOM"

Scripture reference: Psalm 111:10, KJV:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
     his praise endureth for ever."

wisdom = intelligence; by implication, success:--discretion,
knowledge, policy, prudence, sense, understanding, wisdom, wise.

a good = or, good success

Not only is the fear of the Lord the beginning, the starting point of knowledge,
it is the beginning of wisdom, also.

Many times, we may not be aware of God's commandment in a certain area and we
may find out the hard way that a bad choice was made. When, after we find the
knowledge of God, then apply it in wisdom, we really see and understand the benefit!

For example,I was working with my neighbor's granddaughter who came to a
fellowship and asked about speaking in tongues. She wanted to do it too.
After I lead her into it, she went back to grandma's house. Her mom came
back to pick her up shortly afterward.

Naturally, I was very excited that this meek, young girl spoke in tongues
at her first fellowship and wanted to share it with her mom. But, I did
not have respect to God. I did not seek His counsel first. Without regard
to God's knowledge about the situation, without walking in wisdom toward
those who were outside the faith, I blurted out and animatedly spoke on
and on, to a woman who, it turns out, was very anti-God, and anti-Christian
and did not want her daughter, under any circumstance, to go ever again to
our home, let alone a home Bible fellowship! Had I had respect for God's
knowledge, and applied His wisdom in this unique circumstance, I would have
had the opportunity again, to help this girl get to know God, and her Lord
Jesus Christ!

Now, I understand, by experience, that it is best to have respect to God's
knowledge of situations, and walk with the wisdom He imparts to me regarding
them. I barreled on ahead, without respect to God's perfect timing. He knows
everything. I do not. He looks beyond the five senses (hearing, seeing,
smelling, tasting, touching). I do not always do so.

We do not have to learn everything the hard way. Let us respect God enough
that we will go to His Word, (either through our remembrance or by further
study) ask God what to do in situations, and wait on Him, patiently, for
the answer.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. We walk
with the benefit of understanding, in good success, to the extent we
apply the knowledge and wisdom of God in our lives.
