FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 12,
PHRASE OF THE DAY: "IT WILL BE WELL"

Scripture reference: I Samuel 12:24, Amplified Bible

"If you will revere and fear the Lord and serve Him and
hearken to His voice and not rebel against His commandment,
and if both you and your king will follow the Lord your God,
     it will be well."

At first, the children of Israel had no king to rule over them. God was their king.
(I Samuel 12:12) However, the people wanted a king, so God gave them one: Saul. In this
record, the prophet, Samuel, is instructing the people. He is reminding them that God is
still their divine leader, to fear Him and obey Him and to listen to Him. If the people
and their king will continue to love and serve God, all would be well.

Even today, among other attributes, God is our redeemer. He is our strength. He is the
Lord of Hosts. He fights our battles. He is our source of supply, our sufficiency in all
things. He is our peace. He is our justice. He is our vindicator. He is our healer. He
will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our light and our life. Nothing is too hard
for God! He is true. He is faithful and will perform His promises!

Of course, all is well with God on our throne!

This reminds me of the story in the Bible (II Kings 4: 14-37) about the Shunnamite woman
who did not have any kids. Elisha, the prophet, promised she would have a son. She told
him not to deceive her about that. Later, she conceived. Then, when the child was grown,
he was in the fields and complained about his head. "My head! My head!" he cried. He died
on his mom's lap.

Could you imagine the grief the woman and her husband felt? Did the woman panic? Did she
totally freak out and go all to pieces? No. She laid the child on the bed, she closed the
door and went to go get Elisha. "All will be well," she confessed to her husband.

When the prophet's helper-dude asked her how things were with her and her husband and her
child, the woman continued to confess," It is well."

She restrained her lips. She did not blabbermouth her problem all over town. She did
not back bite Elisha. She did not whine and complain. She continued to confess the promise
of God. She hearkened unto the word of God.

How about that for a mind stayed on God! She had peace. It was well. She knew she was
promised a son. She was assured it was not a lie, she was not deceived. She claimed her
promise, even though, by all accounts, it looked hopeless. The child was dead. All is well.

Elisha went on to heal the boy. All was well, indeed.

I will close with a quote my friend, Sarah McGraw, sent me.

"God doesn't always smooth the path, but sometimes He puts springs in the wagon."

     - Marshall Lucas

All is well with God on our throne. May we continue to fear Him, keep His commandments
and hearken unto His voice. May He be the springs in our wagon. All is well.

"I love this quote. And I love being able to
sometimes be of help to you the way you are a help to so many. Delight in your gifts."
