HOW TO FEAR GOD: Part IX
PHRASE OF THE DAY: "SEEK GOD'S HELP"
Scripture reference: Psalm 86:11, Amplified Bible
"Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live
This is a prayer of David, a man after God's own heart. He needed God's help.
He asked God to unite his heart to fear His name. Unite = to be or become one.
This reminds me of the verse in the New Testament in I Corinthians 6:17:
"He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit."
Join = To glue together to adhere, cleave to…"
If David needed God's help to fear Him, then it is certain that we need God's help too.

in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently]
to fear and honor Your name."
He inquired after and sought God to teach him His way so he could order his steps
in the truth. He did not want to know the Word so he could have a puffed up, "I know
it all" attitude. He wanted to know it so he could LIVE and walk in it.
Join.
David is an exemplary example of a meek and humble guy. We can follow David's tender
example and seek God's help to unite our hearts to fear His name.
"Understanding God's Word in the light of
to whom it is written" ; although I had heard this before,
it is one of those key principals that bares repeating. I
find repetition and clarification most helpful to my fully
understanding God's Word.Thank you for all your efforts.
