HOW TO FEAR GOD : Part VIII
WORD OF THE DAY:"PRAISE & GLORY"

Scripture reference: Psalm 22:23, Amplified Bible

"You who fear- revere and worship - the Lord, praise Him!
All you the offspring of Jacob, glorify Him. Fear- revere and
worship -Him, all you offspring of Israel. "

One principle to note, before I get into today's topic, is that we need to understand God's
Word in the light of to whom it is written. For example, in the Old Testament times, the
children of Israel had to have animal sacrifices for their sins. In the gospel period, Jesus
was the final sacrifice for sin, for all of mankind, for the rest of time, when He was crucified.
Today, in New Testament times, we do not sacrifice goats and lambs to atone for our sins. Jesus
was the final Passover Lamb and will die no more. So, when we read in the Old Testament about
having to make animal sacrifices, we do not have to fret! The Bible does not contradict itself.
We understand the Scriptures in light of to whom the passage was written.

Where the Bible is not specifically written to us, but does not contradict what IS written to us,
it is for our learning and still may be applied. We will receive the same benefits as when it
was applied by the people for whom it was originally written.

I realize that we are literally neither the children of Israel, nor the offspring of Jacob,
as children of God, who are members of the one body of Christ: the Church of God. However,
as this verse does not contradict anything in the Bible that is specifically written to us,
then we can apply it and reap the same results.

This verse says those who fear the Lord, are to praise Him and glorify Him. Then, once again,
it repeats itself by saying to fear Him. Revering God, praising God and glorifying God's name
is something that as born again believers, we are exhorted to do in the New Testament also.
Therefore, we can take this verse and apply it today, even though it is directed to the children
of Israel and the offspring of Jacob.

In the Old Testament, the people praised God by telling others, especially in the congregation,
what He had done for them. Today, as born again, spirit filled believers, we praise God perfectly
when we speak in tongues.

Speaking in tongues magnifies God and gives Him perfect praise. Yes, we continue to praise God for
His great works and give Him glory for the works He does for us, using our native language, English.
We tell people, we witness, we testify to others what God has done for us. But we also glorify Him,
[please note there is more than one way to glorify God] magnify His name, and praise Him, by speaking
in tongues.

Look up these verses for more details: Acts 2: 11; Acts 2:47; Acts 10:46

God wants all of us to speak in tongues. See I Corinthians 14:1, 2, 5, 39.

If you have never spoken in tongues, and want to, it is available to do so. There are resources
available to help you. (ex. books, tapes, fellow spirit- filled Christians).
You may ask for help.

Let us who fear the Lord, praise Him and glorify Him. Let us speak in tongues much! Amen.
