Scripture reference: Mark 4:37-40; Isaiah 26:3; Psalm 46: 10, 11:
     "And there arose a great storm of wind, and
     And he was in the hinder part of the ship,
     And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said
     And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?
The word for "peace" here means to be silent, to hush, to be calm. "Still" means to muzzle.
The disciples and Jesus were on a ship going through a great squall. The waves filled the ship entirely with water. Jesus obviously was not concerned about the weather conditions or about his safety. He slept through it. How could Jesus sleep through a storm? Even though the storm was filling up the ship on the outside of Him, the storm did not fill Him up with fear on the inside of him. He did not allow the storm to get into His heart.
The others, however, let the storm get into their hearts. They were not

In contrast, Jesus trusted God in every situation. He had perfect peace.
Isaiah 26:3
     Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind
Why didn't the disciples go get Jesus before the water began to fill the ship,
Jesus commanded the sea to be quiet and restrained. He knew the power of the
Psalm 46:10
     Be still, and know that I am God: I will
     The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Be still. Be at peace. He is our refuge. Early will we seek Him.

     WORD OF THE DAY:"PEACE, BE STILL"
     the waves beat into the ship, so that it was
     now full.
     asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and
     say unto him, Master, carest thou not
     that we perish?
     unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind
     ceased, and there was a great calm.
     how is it that ye have no faith?"
quiet and still on the inside, therefore they could not quiet and still
the storm on the outside. They incubated their fears to the point they
were filled to the brink. They asked for help only when it got to the point
of desperation. Fear sinks!
ourselves and then get all stirred up by thinking and rehashing and
speaking negative words over the situation until it's a huge tempest in
our hearts. We get swamped and feel like we are going to drown!
He spoke the Word of faith over the situation.
      [thought, imagination] is stayed
     [leaned upon, take hold of, propped] on thee:
      because he trusteth in thee.
when the storm first started up? Maybe they thought they could handle it. Maybe
they did not want to bother Him. Maybe they had other fears that stopped them
from seeking him early. Maybe it was an ego, pride thing getting in their way.
In any case, they only went for help when the situation was to the breaking
point. They were desperate! They thought they were going to die!
believed spoken word. He knew the wind and sea would obey Him. He knew God is
the Lord of Hosts and would fashion the sea to do whatever He said.
     be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
let us seek the Lord. Let us speak words of faith over the storm. Let us
trust God, the Lord of Hosts, who is always with us, who cares about us and
is concerned with our well being.
COMMENTS
I pack my trunk, embrace my friends,embark on the sea
and at last wake up in Naples, and there besides me is
the stern fact, the sad self, unrelenting, identical,
that I fled from.
