FEAR GOD: Part XIII
     WORD OF THE DAY: "PEACE"

Scripture reference: Psalm 34:11-14:

"11 Come, ye children, hearken (listen with the
     implication of obedience)
unto me: I will teach you
     the fear of the LORD.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days,
     that he may see good?
(who does not want to live a good,
long life? Who does not delight in that?)

13 Keep (guard) thy tongue from evil, and thy
     lips from speaking guile.
(in the sense of deceiving; fraud:
--craft, deceit(-ful, -fully), false, feigned, guile,
      subtilly, treachery.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it."

(Pursue: to run after (usually with hostile intent; figuratively (of time) gone by):--chase,
put to flight, follow (after, on), hunt, (be under)...

"Peace" = with the idea of resting in quietness, wellness, well being, having good health,
prosperity, absence of fear, absence of strife, safe, absence of vexation.

Because seeking peace and pursuing after peace implies searching diligently for it and
running after it in a very determined manner, this study could fill pages! Therefore, in
the interest of keeping this issue brief, I am organizing the main points into table form.

For further study and understanding, you can use your Youngs's or Strong's Concordance, look
up over 200 uses of "peace" in the Old Testament, then look in the New Testament uses for
"peace" also.

HAVING PEACE HAVING NO PEACE
Love the Word....Psalm 119:165 Devise deceitful matters against them who are quiet (sow discord)...Psalm 35:20
Complete, morally pious, upright...Psalm 37:37 Troubles outside, fears w/in...2 Cor. 7:5
Stay mind on God, trust Him... Isaiah 26:3
Work of righteousness...Isaiah 32:17 Because of my sin...Psalm 38:3
Those who fear the Lord...Malachi 2:5 No peace to wicked...Isaiah 48:22
Justified by faith of Christ...Romans 5:1 Carnally minded...Romans 8:6
Work good... Romans 2:10
Believe...Romans 15:13
Fruit of spirit...Galatians 5:22
Walk in newness of Christ... Gal. 6:16
Gospel of peace...Ephesians 6:15

· Think of the opposites of what makes for peace, to see by implication,
what makes for no peace. Example: For Peace: Love God's Word.
For lack of peace; Reject, despise, hate the Word.

Learn the fear of the Lord: keep your tongue from speaking evil and guile,
depart from evil, seek peace, and pursue it.
