GOD’S WORD DAILY

     VOLUME 1, ISSUE 92                                                             NOVEMBER 3, 2001

WORD OF THE DAY:
     BE NOT ANXIOUS

Anxiety has no place in the heart of a believer. Where there is anxiousness, there is doubt.
Where there is doubt, there is unbelief. Unbelief robs Christians of their rights as sons of
God: the authority and boldness to claim all the promises of God, with conviction and
perserverance. Anxiety robs the Christian of peace. Therefore, be anxious for nothing,
     not even one thing.

     Philippians 4:6 - 9

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God.

Instead of anxiety, put your energy into your prayers of thanksgiving. Remember, all
things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. [Matthew 21:22]

7 And the peace of God, which passeth
          [excels above] all understanding, [intellect]
shall keep [protect, be a watcher at the
          gate of]
your hearts and minds through
          Christ Jesus.

God's peace is way superior over our intellect about the situations we face. Peace keeps
anxiety out. It stands guard over our hearts. But if we allow anxiety to dwell in our
hearts by dwelling on anxious thoughts, it will steal our peace with God.

It takes effort to captivate our thoughts to think wholesome faith filled thoughts.
     Here is a starting point:

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
          true, whatsoever things are honest,

          [ venerable, honorable] whatsoever things
          are just
[equitable, holy, innocent],
          whatsoever things are pure,
[clean, innocent,
          chaste] whatsoever things are lovely,

[friendly towards, acceptable] whatsoever things
          are of good report
[well spoken of, reputable];
          if there be any virtue,
[valor, excellence]
and if there be any praise, [laudation] think
          on these things.

Think the truth of the Word. God's Word is truth. [John 17:17] Think the promises of
God, not the problem. Pray the promises of God, not the problem. Problems, the source
of much anxiety, are the lies of the enemy. Satan is a liar. He will tell you lies such as,
"You won't get any better," or "You will fail," or, "You are a loser." He contradicts
the Word like "You will never get ahead." What is honest is the Word. It is truth.

You have to make up your mind that the Word is truth and the words of the enemy are not. No matter how many people say destructive things about you, you have to stand strong and claim the truth.

The Truth will set you free. You shall have peace. It will guard your heart.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and
          received,
[Greek "paralambano"= to receive near,
i.e. to associate with, by analogy, to assume an office]

and heard, and seen in me, do [practice, perform
          repeatedly or habitually]
: and the God of peace shall
           be with you.

Keeping out anxiety is not a one-time thing. We practice over and over until it becomes
a habit. We learn the Word, we hear the Word, we receive it for ourselves, we see it being
done by other faithful believers and we do it too. Our God of peace shall be with us.

Let us be anxious for nothing. God has the answer. Let us put our trust in
     His Word. Amen.
