GOD'S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 23                                                                                                             AUGUST 5, 2001

FEAR GOD, KNOW THIS:
"The Mighty Hand of the Lord"

Scripture reference: Joshua 4:24

"That all the people of the earth would know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty:
that ye might fear the Lord your God forever."

The preceding verses in the book of Joshua (Joshua 3:7-4:24) describe how the living God parted the
Jordan River waters so the children of Israel could pass on dry ground into the Promised Land. The
verses tell how the children of Israel obeyed Joshua when he told them to gather 12 stones from out of
the midst of the Jordan River. Joshua pitched the stones in Gilgal, on the other side. He told the people
that when their children ask the fathers what the stones mean, to let them know how Israel came over
the Jordan on dry land. The Lord God dried up the waters from before them until they were passed over,
just as the Lord did to the Red Sea as they escaped from under the hand of the Egyptians.

God wanted the fathers to teach their children what God's mighty hand had done so that all the people
of the earth might know the mighty hand of the Lord. Why does God want all the people of the earth to
know His hand is mighty? To the purpose that you might fear the Lord your God forever.

In order for all people to fear the Lord forever, fathers must teach their children what the mighty hand
of the Lord has done. And their children must teach their children and so on and so forth. You must be
taught and in turn, teach your children what the mighty hand of the Lord has done and what the mighty
hand of God can do. God is the same. He changes not. What He did for one He can do for another.

Is anything too hard for God? With God, all things are possible. He is the Lord of Hosts, the fashioner
and former of all things. Is anything out of God's range of capability? Has not the mighty hand of God
created the heavens and the earth? Has he not sent his Son, and raised him up from the dead? Has He not
delivered His people from the hand of the enemy time after time, after time, with His mighty
outstretched arm? Has He not given us His Word that we may believe and receive the blessings and
protection of His mighty hand?

What has the mighty hand of the Lord done for you? You can remember and teach this to your children
that ye might fear, reverence and love the Lord your God forever. Amen.
