FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 7,
     WORD OF THE DAY: "MERCY"

Scripture reference: Psalm 103:10-14, 17

Lately, I have gotten very frustrated with myself. I desire to live well pleasing to God, I want to do the right things and think the right things. Time after time, however, my thoughts run back to and stay where carnality and the things of the flesh war against the things of the spirit, so I cannot do those things that I want to do. I am at an extreme crossroads right now. A battle is raging in my mind. My flesh wills to sin but my spirit wants to live the Word!

Will I have to go around this same mountain again, before I win the battle?

O and how I have beat myself up for teaching others how to stand when I struggle against some
very basic things myself! Should I quit helping others and teaching others until I am more
like Christ? Should I wait until I am perfect before I can serve God? Should you?

God does not require His servants to be perfect before they begin to serve. Was the Apostle
Paul perfect? Was King David perfect? Was Solomon perfect? Was Sampson? Was Moses? If these
great men were not perfect, and God called them out to serve Him anyway, then, He most
certainly can work within us also!

There are plenty of examples in the Bible that describe these awesome men, what their struggles,
downfalls and hearts were like. I can see my own weaknesses in some of these guys. Will I learn
from their mistakes? My chapter is not yet finished being written. But I know the final outcome
is hope! I know that God has mercy on me! He has mercy on you!

When we sin, we confess our sin and God cleanses us of all unrighteousness. We can either rollover,
give up and stay in condemnation or we can get back up again and run the race set before us.

God remembers our frame, that we are dust. He is full of mercy.

Psalm 103:8-14, 17, Amplified Bible

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and
plenteous in mercy and loving -kindness.

He will not always chide or be contending, neither will
He keep his anger forever and hold a grudge.

He has not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us
     after our iniquities.

For as heaven is high above earth, so great are His mercy
and loving- kindness toward those who reverently and
     worshipfully fear Him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed
     our transgressions from us.

As a father loves and pities his children,
so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him.

For He knows our frame; He [earnestly]
     remembers that we are dust.

But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are
from everlasting to everlasting upon those who
reverently and worshipfully fear Him, and His
     righteousness is to children's children."

God be praised for His mercy endures forever!

"Mercy" = " compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an
offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or
benevolence. The disposition to be compassionate or forbearing...
Something that gives evidence of divine favor or blessing."
(from Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary)

The opposite of mercy is cruelty.

God is ever merciful toward us who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.
He remembers our frame. Please do not give up the fight. God has compassion
and mercy and loving-kindness toward you. His mercy is from everlasting to
everlasting. He loves you, warts and all.
