FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 9,
WORD OF THE DAY: "LONG LIFE"

Scripture reference: Proverbs 10:27:

"The fear of the LORD prolongs [one's] days:
but the years of the wicked shall be shortened."

Who here does not want to live a long life?

As a youth, we all think, at one time or another, that "life lasts indefinitely," or "I am
indestructible," or "let the old worry about death. I am young!"

Why be concerned with a long life now, when I have 70 or more years left?

We still have a choice to make. Choose to fear God and keep his commandments* and
live long and prosper, receiving eternal life and rewards that will last forever, OR
choose to despise God, reject His Word, go your own way, be evil, be rebellious against God,
and come to a sudden end, receiving a shortened life span, and then, go to hell!

As if I need to tell you which is the better choice!

"Prolong" is from a Hebrew word meaning to add or augment (often adverbial,
to continue to do a thing). It is also translated: increase more and more, longer,
add, continue and exceed...

"Shortened" is from the Hebrew word meaning; to dock off, i.e. curtail
(transitive or intransitive, literal or figurative); especially to harvest
(grass or grain). It is also translated cut down, much discouraged, grieve,
harvestman, lothe, mourn, reap(-er), (be, wax) short(-en, -er), straiten,
trouble, vex.

*The commandments are these:

You shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, with all
your soul and with all your strength, and love your neighbor as
     yourself.
(Matthew 22: 37-39)

Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ,
the Messiah, is a born again child of God; and every
one who loves the Father, also loves the ones born
      of Him--His offspring.
(I John 5:1)

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through Jesus.
(Gospel of John 14:6)

That if you shall confess, say with your mouth, that
Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised
Him from the dead, you shall be saved (saved from hell, made
      whole, given eternal life).
(Romans 10:9, 10)

Since I have been reverencing God and learning and living His Word more and more,
choosing life, I feel livelier, and healthier! I have a spring in my step,
my face looks youthful and relaxed. I am nearly forty and was called a teeny-bopper
yesterday! Cool benefit!

Choose today. Choose life. Choose Jesus as your Lord. Fear God and keep His
commandments. You shall receive prolonged days. Amen!
