GOD'S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 34                                                                                                             AUGUST 19, 2001

FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 1
     WORD OF THE DAY:"KNOWLEDGE"

Scripture reference: Proverbs 1:7:

     "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:
     [the principle part, the first part] but fools despise
     wisdom and instruction."

God's Word declares in Hosea 4:6," My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge…"
John 10:10 says, "The thief comes not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy.
Jesus is come that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly."

How does satan destroy God's people? Satan, the thief, destroys people through lack
of knowledge, through ignorance. If satan can keep God's people from the truth, if
he can keep them from knowledge and from applying it (wisdom) he will be able to
destroy God's people and steal away the kind of life that God has promised them.

Satan will use deceit and trickery to convince you to not go to the Word. He will
distract you from the Word so you have no time for it. He will try to orchestrate
situations around you that stir you up, trouble you and agitate you to the point
that you are too distracted with pressures to think of the Word. He will try all he
can to prevent you from getting knowledge.

He can try. But, satan has no legal right over God's people.

     "An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour:
     but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
" Pr.11:9

Only YOU can prevent your own destruction by getting knowledge. To Fear God is the
beginning of knowledge. It is the first part. It is the principle part. Getting
knowledge of God hinges upon the fear of the Lord. How shall you get the knowledge
of God if you have no love, respect or awe for the author of it, or despise His Words?

We are filled to the extent of our hunger. If you have no taste for the chef's cooking,
you will not want to look in the menu. Let us cry after, yearn for and desire greatly,
the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1-6:

     1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my
     commandments with thee;

     2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply
      thine heart to understanding;

     3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up
     thy voice for understanding; {liftest...: Heb. givest thy voice}

      4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as
     for hid treasures;

     5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and
     find the knowledge of God.

     6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh
      knowledge and understanding.

The more we know about the ways of God, the more we know about God and all His
infinite love and mercy toward us, the more we will respect, love and honor Him.

It all begins with respect. Respect God. It is the beginning of knowledge.
Through knowledge we shall be delivered. Amen.
