FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 13,
     WORD OF THE DAY: "INCREASE"

Today's study will conclude our Fear God: the Benefits Series.

Scripture reference: Acts 9:31:

"Then had the churches rest throughout all
Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were
edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord,
and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were
     multiplied."

The church had rest because the man, Paul, who had once persecuted the believers
in the past, was now preaching Jesus Christ, the Son of God, with them in the
synagogues. The people in the church were edified, (built up and encouraged)
and were walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

They were strong in grace. The people were manifesting the evidence of holy
spirit. They were speaking in tongues, interpreting their tongues in the church,
they were bringing forth words of prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom.
They were discerning spirits, operating faith, workings of miracles and gifts of
healings. People were getting set free spiritually, mentally and physically.
Multitudes were being healed miraculously. As a result of all these things, the
home churches multiplied, they increased in number.

We can have the same results today, doing the same things they did.

The following verse seems to be the exact opposite of the one above.

Mt 24:12

" And because iniquity shall abound, the love
[agape] of many shall wax cold. "

Because the believed and living Word of God abounds in our lives, our love will be
hot toward God and God's people. (Remember, operating the manifestations of the
spirit without the love of God is profitless.) Our motivation to live the Word is
because we love God, and we love His people. We do not do all the right things for
all the wrong reasons. [example, to be lord over God's people, to be highly regarded,
for money, to look righteous, for fame, etc.]

Believing is energized by the love of God. Others will be drawn to it and will be
motivated to love and will believe also.

It was while walking in rest and edification (which are two benefits of speaking
in tongues), walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the holy spirit,
the churches increased, and were multiplied. The people must have been walking with
the love of God. Otherwise, it would not have profited them.

Ac 6:7

" And the word of God increased and the number
     of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly;
and a great company of the priests were obedient
     to the faith."

The pattern seems to me, that as the Word increases and grows in our daily lives,
as willful sin is replaced with more attributes of Christ, as we walk in love and
manifest holy spirit, the number of disciples and churches will multiply greatly.

The multitudes came to the people who were doing the healing! The word got out
that the lame were walking, the blind were seeing, the diseased were delivered.
Who would not want to be a part of a growing, thriving church that multiplies
because the people in it are walking in love, faith and power and people are
getting healed?

Out of all the benefits for fearing God, I think that this one, by far, is my
favorite, because my vision is to see the church increased here like it was in
the Book of Acts.

May the Word of God increase in our lives, may we walk in rest and comfort.
May we fear God and may our church be multiplied. Amen.
