FEAR GOD: The Benefits, Part 6 ,
     WORD OF THE DAY: "HONOR"

Scripture references: I Samuel 2:30 ; John 12:26:

"…The LORD saith… for them that honour me I will
honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed."

" If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I
am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me,
     him will my Father honour."

honor = " a source of credit or distinction: to be an honor
to one's family. High respect, as for worth, merit, or rank: to be
held in honor.
High public esteem; fame, glory. To hold in honor or
high respect, revere: to honor one's parents. To accept as
valid and conform to the request or demands of. To show respect to.
To award."

"That all men should honour the Son, (Jesus Christ)
even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not
the Son honoureth not the Father who hath sent him. "
John 5:23

God promises He will honor those who honor Him. If we honor Jesus Christ
as we do the Father, and follow and serve Him, we shall be honored, in kind.
God will exalt us in due time. He will not forget our labor of love and will reward us.

Below, I have compiled a short list of other verses that contain the word "honor."

"…in whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he
honours them that fear the LORD…"
Psalm 15:4

     "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
     in honour preferring one another."
Romans 12:10

As people who revere God, we will honor one another and prefer one another's company
over the companionship of those who reject God, or who despise to keep His commandments.
Let us be kind, and walk in sweet brotherly love. In honor, prefer one another.

"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may
be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."
Ex 20:12

"Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first
     commandment with promise.)"
Ephesians 6:2

Children are commanded to honor their parents. A long, successful life is promised
to those who do.

"Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according
to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto
the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the
grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. "
I Peter 3:7

I know I need to give equal time to commandments for the wives to do.
All I could find is we are to honor one another. Wives, respect and honor your husband.

"Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God
     Honour the king."
1Pe 2:17

Here is one way to show honor:

"Whoso offers praise glorifieth (honors) me..."Ps 50:23

When we speak words of praise about God and about one another, it shows honor and glory and it edifies.

Another way to demonstrate honor is to conform to another's requests and demands,
(such as obeying God and obeying your parents).

God promised to honor those who honor Him. Let us honor God, then, and honor one another,
and prefer each other. Let us submit ourselves to God, and to each other, in the love of God
and demonstrate honor openly.
