GOD'S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 21              JULY 17, 2001

OUR WALK WITH GOD,
     WORD OF THE DAY: "GUARD"

Scripture reference: Proverbs 4:23 (Amplified Version)

"Keep your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life."

See also, Proverbs 4:10-15, 20-27

Guard = "to keep, to protect, to maintain." Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary defines guard,
" 1. To keep safe from harm or danger; protect; watch over…2. To keep
under close watch in order to prevent escape, misconduct, etc…3. to keep
under control or restraint as a matter of caution or prudence…4. To
provide or equip with some sort of protective appliance, as to prevent
loss, injury, etc….5. Sports. To position oneself so as to obstruct or
impede the movement or progress of an opponent…."

Swordsmen shout, "ON GUARD!" If fencers let down their guard, even for
one moment, they may become sliced and diced by the opponent. If your
heart is ever left in "ribbons and threads" in any situation, consider
guarding your heart more diligently.

" Take fast hold of instruction, do not let go; guard her, for she is
your life."
Proverbs 4:13 (Amplified Version).

"Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart."
Proverbs 4:21, (Amplified).

"Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
Psalm 119:11, KJV

"But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord [God's Word]…he
habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and night."

Psalm 1:2 Amplified.

We all have heard the old adage, "Garbage in, Garbage out." I want to add to that.
" Word of Life in, Word of Life out."

Protect your heart with more diligence than you would guard your most prized worldly
possession. Your stuff cannot give you life and health and strength but God's believed,
confessed and living Word can.

"On guard!"
