EXPECT GOD

Yesterday, my family and I returned from a fabulous trip with over 100 other Christian people to the Caribbean via Carnival Cruise Line. There, we saw many people without God and without hope in Christ. Oh the riches of His mercy and love! We are such a blessed people.

Yet, even amidst our own people, there is still fear and ignorance of how much our God really loves us and knowledge of what God will do for us, even in the most dangerous situations, if we will only confess His Word and believe it. We need to EXPECT God to work for us and fight and win our battles.

Psalm 27:1-3, 14 Amplified Bible

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the refuge and stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Though a host encamps against me, my heart shall not fear; though wars arise against me, (even then) in this will I be confident.

Why could David be this fearless even when an army was all around him ready to snuff out his life? David's God, the Lord of hosts, God Almighty, was his stronghold. He dwelt in God's continuous presence. He knew and believed that in the day of trouble, God would hide him in His shelter (verse5) and would make his enemies fall. He knew and understood and proved that the battle is the Lord's.

During trouble, David offered to the Lord sacrifices and shoutings of joy, he even sang praises to the Lord His God.(verse6, 7) Oftentimes, we despair instead or say over and over how strong the enemy is. Instead of concentrating on the enemy and what evil may befall him, David concentrated upon and focussed his attention on what His able God would do to deliver him.

Psalm 27:13, 14 Amplified Bible

[What, what would have become of me] had I not believed to see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living!

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage, and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait and hope for and expect the Lord.

What would become of us if we do not believe to see the outcome of God's deliverance? Therefore, let us wait and hope for and expect God to deliver us. Let our hearts be stout and endure! Yes, let's wait and hope for and expect the Lord! Amen.
