Part 2
Our armor is designed to help us stand and withstand. We are promised victory through Christ.
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
What good are shoes that help you stand if you let the arrows the enemy aims at you to hit the intended target and take you out anyway? Above all, therefore, we need a shield. Stop EVERY fiery dart with your shield of faith. When people use their tongues like arrows against you, when they falsely accuse you, when they maliciously gossip, when they tear you down and lie about you, when they contradict the promises of God and try to steal your deliverance through their ignorant lies, you need the shield of faith to protect you against the puncture wounds of the enemy. Your faith, your believing and confessing the promises of God and your holding fast to the Word of God will stop every single dart with which the enemy intends to take you down. Put up your shield of faith. Keep it up.
17 And take the helmet of salvation,
Unbelief and fear starts in your mind. Our battlefield against our enemy is in the mind. You need to protect your mind against every attack with the helmet of salvation. Put on your complete salvation. You are redeemed from the curse of the law. You were made whole through Christ. By His stripes, you were healed. God has given you power and love and a sound mind. Take your helmet.
and [take] the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Wield your sword of the Spirit to cut the enemy's lies to shreds with the Word of God. This is the same Word of God and power in it that God used when He said "Let there be light," and there was light. You can say the Word with conviction and things will obey.
Sometimes we cannot always speak back to our bosses and teachers, but we can think the Word to protect our mind. If someone says to you that something is impossible, you can say that with God all things are possible. You can say, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. With God I can leap over a wall, and by my God I can run through a troop." When someone tries to cut down the Word, use your sword to cut through the lies instead. Replay the Scriptures in your mind over and over again.
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
With your helmet of salvation on, take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God and pray the Word. Stop praying your problems all the time. God already knows what your problem is. Since we can have what we speak and we do get what we speak, it behooves us to pray the Word of God, pray the deliverance, pray the solution, pray what you want the outcome to be. Speaking in tongues is speaking the wonderful works of God. It never contradicts the promises of God. It magnifies God, it praises God, and it speaks divine secrets. Pray always with all prayer and all petitions to God in the spirit, in tongues. It is perfect prayer. It makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. We don't always know what to pray for as we ought to pray, but the spirit makes intercession perfectly. Pray in the spirit.
We need to be prepared to stand against our enemy. We need on the whole armour of God.
Therefore, we must speak in tongues. We must carry the sword, the Word of God. We must have on the helmet, we must wear our salvation. We must have our shield of faith, to put out every fiery dart. We must have on shoes, and be prepared in the gospel of peace. We need the breastplate of righteousness to protect our heart. We must have our loins girt about with truth. We must wear the truth as if our very source of life depends on it. All these components are necessary to stand in the evil day and to withstand.
Let us stand therefore. Amen.
