What others may mean for our harm, God works out for our good. What Satan may mean for our demise, God works out for our benefit.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Many have gone before us who demonstrated this promise. Jesus Christ and Joseph are among two of them.
Jesus Christ was falsely accused and wrongfully persecuted and then crucified. He despised the shame involved with it. For the joy that was to come, he endured the cross. The devil thought he finally beat Jesus by killing him. He thought wrong. God raised him from the dead. Now any one who confesses that Jesus is lord and believes in his heart that God raised him from the dead gets saved. Eternal life is received and each saved person has Christ in them, equipped to do all the works Christ was able to do and greater works!
What the devil meant to destroy actually helped usher in a new era. Salvation and the gift of holy spirit are now available to whosoever will believe. Instead of one Jesus, the earth is full of thousands of believers who are doing the works of Christ.
Joseph was favored by his dad. His brothers were jealous and threw him in a pit, leaving him for dead. One brother suggested they sell Joseph into slavery. That is what they did. But God was with Joseph and prospered him. Along the way, he was also falsely accused and thrown into prison. But God was with him and prospered him. Eventually, Joseph was promoted as second to pharoah, king of Egypt. Even though his brothers meant it for Joseph's harm, God brought about victory in this situation to save the children of Israel from a horrible famine many years later. (Genesis 45:5-8)
When the situation looks bleak for you, remember God has promised to work it together for good. God does not see as we see. He sees the end. We have the victory in Christ. Amen.
