JESUS CHRIST:
Our Foundation

     QUICKENED

God is so rich in mercy, love and grace to us. When
we were dead in our sins, walking around as children
of the flesh and the world, in the lusts of our flesh,
even then, God quickened us together with Christ.

We are quickened. What's that mean?

Ephesians 2:1

And you hath he quickened, who were
dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked
according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of
the air, the spirit that now worketh in
the children of disobedience:

We were walking dead people. We did not live according
to the standard of God's Word. We walked according to
our feelings and moods, and our fleshly desires and
will. We did not walk for God. The false god of this
world, satan, owned us lock, stock and barrel.

3 Among whom also we all had our
conversation
[this is how we busied
ourselves, lived]
in times past in the lusts of
our flesh, fulfilling the desires
[wills]of
the flesh and of the mind; and were by
nature the children of wrath, even as others.

All of us began dead in sin, walking by nature, according
to the world. We lived among other children of disobedience,
with whom satan worked. We all behaved, in times past, in
the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling our fleshly wills.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his
great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath
quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)

One source says that quickened means "to reanimate conjointly
with."
The Amplified Bible translates this as "He made us alive
together in fellowship and union with Christ-He gave us the
very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He
quickened Him."

How did God quicken Christ? God raised Christ from the dead,
according to God's great, mighty power. This same power works
in us who believe! We have new life, and share fully in the
same new life that Christ has! There is no room for condemnation
and feelings of worthlessness. We are alive, together in union
with Christ! We are forgiven. Lets rejoice and praise God for
His rich love and mercy! Amen.
