SEALED WITH SPIRIT
Just as the stone was sealed to prevent anyone from removing the
body of Jesus from his tomb, we were sealed with the spirit of promise.
Matthew 27:66
So they went, and made the sepulchre sure [rendered
it secure, made it fast], sealing the stone [stamped it for
security or preservation], and setting a watch
[custody].
This analogy can only be taken so far since this tomb was sealed by man.
God's seal is more sure.The holy spirit will never be taken away from us.
We are preserved unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is watching
over us. Our redemption is certain.
No one can tamper with us nor
alter our spiritual course without our permission.
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in
whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed
with that holy Spirit of promise,
First we heard the Word. We heard what to do to get born again. We trusted
and believed that the Word is true. When we confessed with our mouth the
Lord Jesus and believed in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we
received salvation. After we heard, trusted and believed, then we were
sealed with holy spirit. This gift of holy spirit is promised to all who
believe.
Being sealed is like having hot wax poured onto the back of a letter, then
while the wax is still warm, stamped with the emblem of the sender. A stamped,
waxed sealed letter cannot be tampered with. The letter cannot be read by
any one who does not have the authority to break the seal. Because once the
seal is removed, the recipient knows that someone else has intercepted the
letter and maybe altered the contents.
The devil has no authority to break in and mess up
what God has done for us. Since He has no authority over us, then why would we willingly grant him access? The words we speak and the actions we take either grant or deny satan access to our lives.
We were stamped by God with holy spirit for our security and preservation. The
devil cannot remove our holy spirit. He has no access to us unless we allow him in.
He has no legal right to us any longer. We are God's own. We are in His custody. We
are sealed and sure. We are secure. We are preserved unto the day of redemption.
Ephesians 1:13b, 14
...ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance [a pledge, i.e.
part of the purchase-money or property given in advance
as security for the rest] until the redemption of the
purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Since holy spirit is small token of what is to come and we can do the works and
greater works than Jesus did now (John 14:12) with the spirit we have been given,
just how BIG do you think God is? How great? How powerful? How awesome? The
manifestations of holy spirit are so mighty and powerful and work many wonders
and signs, yet this is just a down payment for the inheritance to come!
Thank you God for sealing us with your spirit of promise, for keeping us for your
own.Work in us, through the holy spirit of promise, to the praise of your glory. Amen.
