JESUS CHRIST:
     The Foundation of our Faith

     GOD'S WILL IS KNOWN!

Repeatedly, I have heard people say, "I don't know what God's will is for my life." I was
one of the people who've said it. However, the focus was always on me when I said
it, not necessarily on the will of God. I often questioned what I should do career wise by
reflecting "I want it to be God's will." That's very religious, but not very accurate!

When Jesus had to decide whether or not He would go through the torture of the cross,
He prayed, "Not my will, but thine be done." This decision was up to Jesus,
but he wasn't reflecting on whether or not he should remain the Son of God or
     become a doctor instead.
He was reflecting upon His life fulfilling God's will and
whether or not he himself was willing to go along with it.

Christs' sacrifice was the crucial component of every other factor of God's purpose. Without a crucified Jesus, there would be no eternal life, there would be no salvation.

Our choice to become a nurse, a doctor, an artist, a lawyer, or whatever, will
not alter nor change the will of God and His purpose in our life. Do you see the
difference? Careers are different. The purpose for our lives is the same.

Do you think it gives God pleasure to keep people in the dark regarding something
as important as His will? Do you think God's will for you is different than what His
will is for me? Or have we confused our gifts with His will?

     Ephesians 1:9

Having made known [certified, declared] unto us
the mystery
[Greek: musterion] of his will, according
to his good pleasure
[satisfaction, delight] which he
hath purposed
[proposed, determined] in himself:

God made known to US the mystery of His will. It was a mystery. Now it is not. We
can stop wondering and wandering to seek knowledge of His will. He made it known
     in the Bible.

Thank God we do not have to float around with our life, flitting from one thing to
the next in anticipation of finding out His will and purpose for our lives! God
knows we need focus and direction! He made known His will to us in His Word!

What is open for discovery is the gifts with which He equipped us!

Next issue, we will review God's will and His purpose for us in more detail and
further distinguish between our gifts and His purpose.
