JESUS CHRIST:
     The Foundation of our Faith

     SPIRIT OF PROMISE!

 

     Last issue we looked at what we were sealed with the moment we
     believed: holy spirit, the spirit of promise. We have the spirit of Christ in us!

     Today we will look at what we can do now that we have this holy spirit
     of promise. We have promise for the future, and promise for today.

 

     God equipped us with holy spirit, as a token of the glory to come.

 

     2 Corinthians 1:22

          Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest
          [an advance payment used as security for the rest
          to come] of the Spirit in our hearts.

 

     But, as we wait for our Lord's return, we can walk and talk with God and worship Him
     NOW in spirit and in truth.

 

     John 4:23, 24

          But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
          worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit
          and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to
          worship him.

          God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
          worship him in spirit and in truth.

 

     Perfect praise to God is made by speaking via the spirit or speaking in tongues.
     You do the speaking, but God gives the utterance of what to say.

     We are able to do the works of Jesus Christ and greater works than what
     Jesus did!

 

     John 14:12

          Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
          me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater
          works than these shall he do; because I go unto my
          Father.

 

     What are some of the works of Jesus Christ? Among other things, He
      received from God: word of wisdom and word of knowledge, He discerned
     the spirits in men, (whether they were evil or good), he did miracles,
      he healed and he prophesied.

 

     1 Corinthians 12:7

          But the manifestation of the Spirit is given TO EVERY
          [each and every] MAN to profit withal [to contribute,
          to be better for].

          For to one [profit or contribution] is given by the Spirit
          the word of wisdom; to another [profit or contribution]
          the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

          To another [profit] faith by the same Spirit; to another
          [profit] the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

          To another [profit] the working of miracles; to another
          [profit or contribution] prophecy; to another [profit or
          contribution] discerning of spirits; to another [profit]
          divers kinds of tongues; to another [profit] the
          interpretation of tongues:

          But ALL THESE [all the manifestations of the spirit, i.e, word of
           wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working
          of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in
          tongues, interpretation of tongues] worketh that one and
          the selfsame Spirit, dividing [distributing] TO EVERY
          [each and every] MAN severally
          [Greek: "idios" = his own] as he[pronouns refer to the last noun
          mentioned, here: " the man"] will.

 

     Because YOU have been given the spirit of Christ, because God is not a respecter
     of persons and will do for you what He has done for any other believer, IF you will
     or desire to do so, YOU CAN operate ALL nine manifestations of holy spirit, as
     needed, like Jesus Christ did, by that one and self same spirit that is at work in YOU!

     Jesus never spoke in tongues nor interpreted tongues because it was not
     available to do so until the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:1ff. These are among the
     greater works of John 14:12! Those who believe can do the works of Christ by
     the same spirit Christ had at work in Him, while He was here on earth!

     We are sons of God with promise, both with hope in the future and NOW with the
     power of Christ in us, sealed with the holy spirit! Now, let's desire or will to use
     what we have in us and manifest the spirit of God while we wait for our Lord's
