GOD’S WORD DAILY

     VOLUME 1, ISSUE 116                                                             JANUARY 31, 2002

JESUS CHRIST:
     The Foundation of our Faith

     Our Intercessor!

Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God. He is not bored all day! He functions
as our intercessor. He deals with us and confers with God on our behalf. He entreats
God for us according to the Will of God. He ever lives to make intercession for us!

     Romans 8: 34

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ
that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who
is even at the right hand of God, who also
          maketh intercession for us.

Remember the record about the woman caught in adultery? The men who caught her
wanted to stone her to death. Imagine for a moment this woman, as she was caught
in the act, then grabbed by these big, burly men. Maybe she was not fully dressed!
Imagine her embarrassment, her shame, her pain, and her turmoil. Imagine her
terror! She gets dragged across town and thrown at the feet of Jesus Christ!
In front of all these people, perhaps some were strangers, and some were those
she recognized as neighbors and friends, accused of a sin so terrible that its
     punishment was death by stoning!

Her eyes wide with fright and remorse, imagine her pleading silently, "Spare
my life, I am a sinful woman!" Imagine the compassion Jesus had for her as he
thought of all the Old Testament records about adultery and its penalties. Imagine
Jesus, in his spirit, conferring with God over the matter. Then Jesus said, "He that
is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone. "

None of the accusers were without sin. Jesus was the only one present who was
without sin. However, He did not choose to condemn her. He did not choose to
stone her for her sin. He chose to be her intercessor instead. He interceded
on her behalf, conferring with God, and saved her life. He forgave her. He also
implored her to go sin no more.

The Power Bible CD defines intercession as follows: "to chance upon, i.e.
(by implication) confer with; by extension to entreat (in favor or against)."

To confer with someone is to consult together, compare opinions, or carry on a discussion.

To entreat is to ask earnestly for something, to beseech, to implore.

Jesus goes to His Father on our behalf, petitioning the Father, imploring Him,
consulting together with Him, saving us to the uttermost!

     Hebrews 7:25

Wherefore he is able also to save them to
the uttermost that come unto God by him,
seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Jesus is our intercessor and he ever lives to do so. He will not condemn us! Amen.
