"What you spend your time doing should be taking you closer to your goals, not farther away from them."

OUR WALK WITH GOD,
     WORD OF THE DAY: "CIRCUMSPECTLY"

Scripture reference: Ephesians 5:15

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise."

"Circumspectly," from Bullinger's Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek New Testament,
is defined as, " going up to the top or summit; and as this requires great pains, care and diligence,
it means accurate, exact, perfect in its kind: of argument, close, subtle; of thoughts, clear,
definite; of persons, exact, precise, strict…"

Amplified Bible translates this verse in a more meaningful way. Ephesians 5:15-17:

"Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and
worthily and accurately, not as unwise and witless, but as
     wise- sensible, intelligent people.

Making the very most of the time- buying up each
opportunity- because the days are evil.

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but
understanding and firmly grasping what the will
     of the Lord is."

I remember as a teen, I did not understand this verse at all. I had NO IDEA where I was heading,
what I was going to do as far as a career, and really didn't know how I was going to accomplish
anything. My future was a vague, wavering haze. I felt since I was so young, I had all the time
in the world, and that it was too far away to matter much anyway. Because I was so unfocussed,
I drifted along, and never did much. I had no aim, no purpose and no direction. I had no goals.
I wasted a good portion of 15 years in this nebulousness. I urge you to avoid doing what I did.
Get serious about your life and your purpose, sooner than later. Set goals for yourself. Get
clear about what you want to accomplish spiritually, physically and career-wise. Lean to God for
understanding. He will direct your paths, as you trust in him.

The walk of circumspection suggests we are exact and focussed, living a purposeful life,
understanding the will of the Lord, taking heed unto our ways, and seeing the time we have here
is brief. Climb to the top of the summit God has allotted for you, with exactness, clarity, and
precision.

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with thy might..."
     Ecclesiastes 9:10

" I know that there is nothing better for them to be glad and to get and
     do good as long as they live;

And also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his
labor; it is the gift of God." Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13

"Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is for one to eat and
drink, and find enjoyment in all the labor in which he labors under the sun
all the days which God gives him, for this is his allotted part.

Also every man to whom God has given riches and possessions and power to
enjoy them, and to accept his appointed lot and to rejoice in his toil,
this is the gift of God to him."
Ecclesiastes 5:18, 19
