GOD'S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 20                                                                                                             AUGUST 2, 2001

OUR WALK WITH GOD,
     WORD OF THE DAY:"WISDOM"

Scripture reference: Colossians 4:5 KJV/ Amplified Bible

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time." KJV

"Behave yourselves wisely- living prudently and with discretion-
in your relations with those of the outside world
(the non Christians), making the most of the time and seizing
     (buying up) the opportunity." Amplified

Whether or not we are planning on it, expecting it, or consciously aware of it, we are witnesses of the
Lord Jesus Christ ALL THE TIME. The question is not whether we have been given the great commission:

"Ye shall receive power after that the holy spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses
unto me both in Jeruselam, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost
     part of the earth."
(Acts 1:8)

The question is whether our witness reflects the God in Christ in us, outwardly to others or
deflects an undisciplined, unrenewed mind of hypocrasy to them instead.

If we are "out in the world" being ourselves, would a non Christian be able to look at us and say,
"There goes a child of God?"

The times are short, the day is at hand. Now are we the sons of God. Be ready always to give anyone
an answer of the reason of the hope in you. The unsaved people you run into may be the ones God
intends for YOU to bring to the good news of Jesus Christ.

But if we are living in purposeful sin outside of our little church crowd, how will we be able to
convince them of God's healing power, His deliverance from the sin that so easily besets us, etc. If
the words we speak are reflecting a "potty mouth," or a heart full of revenge, how will we be an
effective witness?

Wanna hear a painful lesson I learned the hard way? I was a born again Christian, but a carnally
minded Christian who caroused, and drank excessively. I was partying with a guy who liked to hang
out with me, and I spoke the Word to him and his friend. Well, the guy's friend said I was a
hypocrite and did not want what I had. I never again had the opportunity to be a better witness
for God to that man again. I blew it. Who knows what kind of thing God will have to do to repair
the damage I did to the name of God and his kingdom in that person's eyes? I have since asked God
to forgive me, for taking the grace of God in vain, and for sinning against God and against
his people.

I learned it is a wise thing to live prudently and with discretion, where ever I go. I may never
again have the opportunity to witness in that place, to those same people again.
I may lose the chance to minister God's love and grace and delivering power, when I lose
credibility and trustworthiness by my lack of discretion.

Let us walk wisely toward those who are in the body of Christ and toward those who are yet
unsaved. Let us be ready witnesses, full of the good news, in both word and deed.
Amen and God help me.

COMMENTS

Dearest Carol;
Thanks for doing God's Word Daily. In these trying times of tearing down believers rather than exhorting and edifying one another you my lovely sister are a ray of Sonshine. God Bless You in all of your endeavors for Him. Love In Christ
