WORD OF THE DAY: "BE WITHOUT DISSIMULATION"
Scripture references: Romans 12:9
Let love [love of God] be without dissimulation.
Abhor [detest utterly] that which is evil; cleave
[glue, stick, keep company] to that which is good.
Dissimulation = "Undissembled, sincere: without hypocrisy, unfeigned."
Here is an interesting side note:
The  Greek  word  for  " without  dissimulation, " is
used six times in the New Testament. Six represents
man, the human number; imperfection..; the number
of  MAN  as destitute of God. 7-1=6 indicates man
coming  short   of  spiritual  perfection. *
[*Number  in  Scriptures,  by  E.W.  Bullinger]
In common terms, loving without dissimulation is to love
without faking it. It is to love in sincerity and in truth.
Here are all six verses where this term is found:
2 Corinthians 6:4, 6
But in all things approving [setting together,
     introduce favorably, exhibiting] ourselves as
     the ministers of God...
By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering,
by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned
I Timothy 1:5
Now the end of the commandment is charity
out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience,
     and of faith unfeigned.
James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated,
full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,
     [impartial] and without hypocrisy.
I Peter 1:22
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying
the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love
of the brethren, see that ye love one another
     with a pure heart fervently.
The other use of the word meaning without hypocrisy is found in 2 Timothy 1:5. There, Paul
mentions he calls to remembrance Timothy's unfeigned faith, which was first in his
grandmother and then in his mother and Paul says again of him, "I am persuaded that
in you also." Paul is reminding Timothy to stir up his gift, to abandon his fears,
and be unashamed of the gospel, holding fast the form of sound words, that he heard of
Paul in faith and love.(I Timothy 1:5-14)
Let love be without hypocrisy. Let us act on our faith and love and exhibit them freely
without fear, without partiality, and with pure hearts. Amen.
