GOD’S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 69                                                                                                                     September 26, 2001

WORD OF THE DAY: "BE READY"

Scripture references: Luke 12:40, 42 (see also verses 43-48):

40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall
make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Ready = from an old noun meaning fitness; adjusted, prepared, ready.

Jesus Christ is coming at a time and an hour when we think not. Are you ready? Are you prepared for His arrival?
Will He find you unprepared and unready? Will he find you steeped in broken fellowship, hanging out in
inappropriate places, doing unfitting things with unseemly people? Will He see the Christ in you manifested
outwardly on a regular basis? Will He find you ministering the Word to people, living for Him as best as you
can, growing and walking in love and service to Him? Will your lamp be lit or will the fire be out?

This topic is not to make you feel guilty or unworthy. It is to draw your attention to the path you are walking on.
Now is preparation time. How are you using it? Are you making yourself ready for His arrival?

My son and I have been discussing this topic lately. He shared he wanted to live here on earth a very long time
before Jesus comes back. In that regard, no, he is not ready for the Lord's return. However, he does agree that
if Jesus returns sooner than later, he would like to be ready, by living his life fully in service to Him, making
his life count for something that will last for all eternity.

Our life span is a drop in the bucket compared with the amount of time we will spend in eternity.

Every thing in the senses realm is temporary. At best, our work and our possessions will last the duration of our life
span or until Christ comes back, whichever comes first. We cannot take any of it with us into heaven. What lasts for
eternity, however, are the rewards faithful stewards will receive for the good works rendered in service to God, out of
a pure heart fervently.

We will continue to look at being ready in our study of God's Word for next couple of days. I want to be ready. I want
you to be ready. Let's get ready together!
