GOD’S WORD DAILY

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 77                                                             OCTOBER 9, 2001

WORD OF THE DAY:

     "BE NOT OVERCOME
               WITH EVIL"

     Scripture references: Romans 12:21:

          Be not overcome of evil,

     "Evil" from Greek "kakos" = "worthless (intrinsically, such;
i.e. (subjectively) depraved, or (objectively) injurious."

          but overcome evil with good.

There is a lot of destructive evil out in the world. We do not need
to be overcome by it. It does not need to keep us in doors for fear.
It does not need to over power us and  destroy the foundations of
our faith. We overcome, we prevail over this evil, by good.

What better good is there besides our God and the things relating
     to Him?

     I John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children,
          and have overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than
he that is in the world.

     John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that
in me ye might have peace. In the world
ye shall have tribulation: but be of good
cheer; I have overcome the world.

     I John 5: 4, 5

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the
world: and this is the victory that overcometh
           the world, even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that
believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Because we have the faith of Jesus Christ, we have already over come the world!
We broke free from the bondage of death, through Jesus our Savior
and Lord. No one can take away our liberty in Christ and no one
can remove from us, the promise of eternal life!

We have power in the name of Jesus Christ and we can claim the promises of
God with authority and boldness in every situation. The world can try to choke
the Word of faith from our hearts, but if we stand fast in
the Word and continue to confess it with conviction, God will
     perform His promises.

Let's overcome evil with good, through Jesus Christ and
     the Word with faith. Amen.

COMMENTS

The seal of Virginia, above, depicts the Roman goddess Virtus
representing the spirit of the Commonwealth. She is dressed as an
Amazon, a sheathed sword in one hand, and a spear in the other, and one
foot on the form of Tyranny, who is pictured with a broken chain in his
left hand, a scourge in his right, and his fallen crown nearby, implying
struggle that has ended in complete victory. Virginia’s motto,
Sic Semper Tyrannis (Latin for "Thus Always to Tyrants"), appears
at the bottom. [from State of VA web site].
