GOD’S WORD DAILY

     VOLUME 1, ISSUE 78                                                             OCTOBER 11, 2001

WORD OF THE DAY:
     "BE FULLY PERSUADED"

     Scripture references: Romans 14:5:

"One man esteemeth one day above another:
another esteemeth every day alike. Let every
man be fully persuaded in his own mind."

Fully persuaded = " to carry out fully (in evidence), i.e.
completely assure (or convince), entirely accomplish:--most
surely believe, fully know (persuade), make full proof of."

The definition for "fully persuaded" as stated above, does not begin to scratch the
surface  in  the deeper  meaning,  that  is  not  made  plain, until  one looks up the
two  Greek words  from  which  this one  comes. I  was sweetly  surprised by this
     discovery!

"Be fully persuded" is translated from the Greek word plerophoreo. This word is
     from the Greek words pleres  and phoreo. Pleres means  replete, covered over;
and by analogy, complete. The root word of pleres is pletho. This means filled to
     overflowing.

Now this is the cool part! Phoreo means "to have a burden, i.e. (by analogy) to
wear as clothing or a constant accompaniment:--bear, wear. "

In our minds, we wear this full persuasion
like clothing, in constant accompaniment, [never taking it off!]
Evidence is carried out fully, by our convictions and
by our entire accomplishments.

Here are the other four places the word for "fully persuaded" is used.

     Luke 1:1, 4

Forasmuch as many have taken in hand
to set forth in order, a declaration of those
things which are most surely believed among us...

4 That thou might know the certainty of those things,
           wherein thou hast been instructed.

     Romans 4:21

And [Abraham] being fully persuaded that, what
He [God] had promised, he [God] was able also
           to perform.

     2 Timothy 4:5

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions
do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of
           thy ministry.

     2 Timothy 4:17

Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and
strengthened me; that by me the preaching might
be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might
hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

If we are fully persuaded, we will not be tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine. If
we are fully persuaded, the false judgments or criticism of others won't sway us. If we are
fully persuaded, we will claim the promises of God by faith. If fully persuaded, we will bear
much fruit. If fully persuaded, we will make full proof of our ministry [whether it is the
ministry of reconciliation or a gift ministry to the church].It will be evident because we will
     wear it constantly. Amen.
