WORD OF THE DAY:      "BE FOLLOWERS OF GOD"      Scripture references: Ephesians 5:1:           "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear           [beloved] children. "   Followers is from the Greek word mimetes, meaning "an imitator." This word is used seven times in the New Testament. It is translated from the root word mimeomai [which is used four times].        E. W Bullinger in his book, Number in the Scriptures, wrote the number seven indicates      spiritual perfection or completeness. The number four "denotes...and marks...His creative      works. He is known by the things that are seen."          In order for us to become spiritually complete or spiritually mature, we need to be      followers of God. Spiritually speaking, we are already perfect before God. We did no      works to earn salvation and the gift of holy spirit. We will not be made more      spiritually perfect by more works now. What I mean is, our renewed mind walk with      God will develop, our fellowship with God will grow and mature.      To accomplish this spiritual maturity, we will need to study the Scriptures, put them on      in our mind and walk out on the Word we know. Often, we need to see it done right. We      need real life examples to show us how to overcome, how to believe and how to live      for God.          As Christians, we are urged to mimetes imitate in this manner:           1. Be followers of God (1x)           2. Be followers of Christ [the Lord.](2x)           3. Be followers of Paul (leadership) (4x)           4. Be followers of them who walk (1x)           5. Followers of us.(1x)           6. Be followers of the churches of God that are in Christ.(1x)           7. Be followers of them who with faith           and patience inherit the promises.(1x)   We are urged to mimeomai mimic these:           1. Be followers of good [not evil]. (2x)           2. Be followers of us [not disorderly].(1x)           3. Be followers of them who have spoken the           Word to you, [whose faith follow]. (1x)          Here is a complete listing of all these verses:      1Corinthians 11:1           Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.      1Corinthians 4:16           Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.      Philippians 3:17           Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark           them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.      I Thessalonians 1:6, 7           And ye became followers of us, and of the            Lord, having received the word in much           affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:           So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in           Macedonia and Achaia. I Thessalonians 2:14           For ye, brethren, became followers of the           churches of God which in Judaea are in            Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things            of your own countrymen, even as they have of           the Jews.      Hebrews 6:12           That ye be not slothful, [sluggish, lazy, stupid,           dull] but followers of them who through faith            and patience inherit the promises.        I Peter 3:13           And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers           [mimeomai] of that which is good?

3 John 1:11

Beloved, follow [mimeomai] not that which is evil,           but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God:           but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.      2 Thess.3:7           For yourselves know how ye ought to follow           [mimeomai] us: for we behaved not ourselves           disorderly among you.      Hebrews 13:7           Remember them which have the rule over you, who have           spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow,           [mimeomai] considering the end of their conversation.        Let's be faithful followers of God as dear children and follow those who walk in Christ.       Amen.        -Carol Kenreigh
