VOLUME 1, ISSUE 100                                                              NOVEMBER 13, 2001

WORD OF THE DAY:
     BE IN THE FAITH

The Corinthian church had many issues, involving many different areas. Often idolatry,
fornication and ignorance deceived them. Therefore, it was important for them to
scutinize their hearts and discipline themselves to live by faith. Likewise, it is
important for us to do the same.

     2Corinthians 13:5

          Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;
          prove your own selves. Know
[be fully acquainted
          with]
ye not your own selves, how that Jesus
          Christ is in you, except
[if not somewhat] ye be
          reprobates
[castaway, void of judgment] ?

"Examine own selves. So important are the interests at stake, and so liable are the best to
deceive themselves, that all Christians should be often induced to examine the foundation of
     their [faith]." [Barnes Commentary]

"Prove own selves. Let him not merely sit down and think, and compare himself with the
Bible, and look at his own heart--valuable as this may be in many respects; but let him
treat his [Christianity] as he would anything else--let him subject it to actual
     experiment." [Barnes]

It is in the practical application of our faith where we really put the Word of God to the test.

If one never lives by the principles
in the Word of God,
one will never know
if it works!

If, when it is tried, and one falls flat, get help from someone who has
successfully lived by faith so you can overcome.
God desires we live by faith and to do His blessed will. If we do not get the results we
seek, there really is no excuse for not getting the help we need in order to learn
how. There are people, there are books, there are tapes and there are study materials. We
have holy spirit too, which will lead us in all truth.

If I forget that I have Christ in me, the hope of glory, [Colossians 1:27] (one of the basic
tenets of my Christian faith), if I forget that I can live victoriously through Christ, if I
forget the Word of God, sooner or later, I will give up on my Christianity, I will give up on
God and I will live as a castaway and live void of spiritual judgment and discernment.

God never leaves us. God never forsakes us.
We leave God. We forsake Him.

Let us examine, or scrutinize our own selves whether or not we live by the faith of Jesus
Christ, whether or not we believe and act on the Word of God. If after this examination
and after the test of use, we find we are in the faith genuinely, then fantastic! If not,
then it is a simple matter to tell God sorry and get back into
fellowship with Him again. Get the help you need until you are victorious and receive the
     results you desire.
     Amen.
